Our First Graduate
Our first high school graduate! Our beautiful daughter, Amanda, graduated on May 30th from Upper Sandusky High School. What mixed emotion that brings as I write this to inform friends of this milestone in our family.
It gives me strength that so many of you reading this have already been through this and came out happy on the other side. Sure, the school did a great job of educating our Amanda, but we as parents prepare her for what the world will bring her way. I believe it will be her faith that will get her though those trying times. If I taught Amanda anything, I want it to be the ability to persevere. We must overcome the not-so-perfect life on a day-to-day basis. There will be so many good times and so many victories, but the defeats will hurt. She can’t give up and neither can we!
In an age where there are tens of thousands of college grads without work, and grads taking accomplishments and degrees off of their resumes just to get any work…that is a scary time, but we have to remain positive. We all must find something we are good at and try our best. Good things will happen to people with faith. Our Amanda wants to get an undergraduate degree in psychology, get a job in her field, and then go on to get her PhD.
Our kids grow up so fast, don’t they? Where does the time go? I guess the moral of my story is we’ll love ‘em at any age. We just hope they don’t forget us!
Blessed to be a father, Nick |
