Greetings in the Name of our Lord

“Cultivating A Heart of Thanksgiving”

As we are in the “harvest season”.  Our thoughts turn to a national holiday we call “Thanksgiving,” this word is made from two words, “giving” and “thanks”.  Here in        Matthew: chapter 6 verses 6 thru 13 we read what is referred to as the “Lords Prayer”.  “Our     father, in heaven, hallowed be your name.  Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread.  And forgive us or debts, as we forgive our debtors.  And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one.  For yours is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever.  Amen.

When we truly look carefully, we find that in Verse 11, that we only need “our daily bread”.  In First Timothy chapter 6 verse 8 we read, “and having food and clothing, with these we shall be content”.

Each of us here in America have so much to be Thankful for.  Beginning each new day, we need to give the Lord thanks for the very breath we breathe.  For living in a land where we have freedom and liberty, and the freedom to worship.

I challenge all who read this, to take a sheet of paper and make a list of all the blessings to be thankful for.

My closing thoughts are found in the book of Philippians, Chapter 4 verses 6 and 7.  “be  anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with Thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all                understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

May each of us daily, thank the Lord for all of our Blessings.

Have a “Thankful” Thanksgiving
